"It's important to create
a low risk driving
environment, utilising
accident avoidance
techniques."
Advanced Driver
Training
Defensive
driving
techniques are
outdated and no
longer relevant
on our roads.
The difference
with accident
avoidance
techniques is
that you attempt
to gain
information on
the driving
environment
before there is
any necessity to
take defensive
action. Also,
accident
avoidance
techniques rely
on good
observation,
gear selection
and vehicle
position to
avoid any
situation or
incident before
it potentially
becomes a
serious
accident.
Many young
drivers do not
receive any
experience in
heavy traffic or
difficult
driving
conditions prior
to obtaining
their
licence. These
situations
require
confidence and
the ability to
make and execute
correct
decisions
quickly.
Initially,
Laurie conducts
a carefully
developed
classroom
session
explaining the
necessary
principals,
skills and
techniques
involved. Laurie
then assesses
the trainee
drivers’ ability
prior to taking
them into
densely
populated
situations that
require quick
decision making
to practice the
advanced DT
techniques.
Mature Age Test
Preparation
Due to NSW
regulations,
drivers 85 years
or older are
required to
complete a
driving test
before being
reissued with a
licence. As
transport
regulations and
RTA requirements
have changed
over the years,
this can make
the test a
rather harrowing
and difficult
event.
Laurie can help
the mature age
driver to brush
up on their
driving skills
and enlighten
them as to
today’s Road Law
and what the RTA
test will
require of them
prior to sitting
the driving
test.
Laurie has
assisted Gosford
and Wyong
Councils with
their very
popular Seniors
Driving program.
Skills
Assessment
For those
wishing to
improve their
skills on
today's busy and
unforgiving
roads, Laurie
can assist any
holder of a
current drivers
licence by
assessing their
current skill
level and
instructing them
in the finer
points of
driving.
This becomes
very useful when
you decide to
drive a manual
car after many
years of driving
automatics
